There are seasons of life where everything feels loud, but clarity is quiet. When I was rebuilding, I didn’t need motivational speeches or five-step transformations. I needed something steady. Something honest. Something that could sit with me while I figured things out.
What I reached for, again and again, was writing.
Not performative journaling. Not “dear diary” perfection. Just pages where I could tell the truth without being interrupted.
That practice came long before this book ever existed.
Why Journaling Became My Anchor
Journaling gave me a place to slow my thoughts down enough to understand them. It helped me separate what was mine from what I had been carrying for everyone else. It became a way to check in with myself. Without judgment, without urgency.
Some days it was one sentence.
Some days it was messy.
Some days it was the only thing that made sense.
But it was consistent. And consistency changes things.
How The Grit Journal Came to Be
This book wasn’t created as a product first. It was created as a reflection of a practice that already worked.
I wanted something that felt grounding, not overwhelming.
Something that met people where they are, not where they “should” be.
A journal you could return to on hard days and ordinary ones alike.
The Grit Journal is an invitation to show up honestly, even when you’re tired, unsure, or still figuring it out.
Especially then.
If You’d Like to Hold a Copy of Your Own
If you’re feeling called to begin (or return to) a journaling practice, you can find The Grit Journal here. It’s designed to support reflection, resilience, and forward movement at your own pace.
There’s no right way to use it. Just your way.
Tools That Support the Practice
Over time, I’ve learned that having the right tools makes it easier to show up. Especially on days when motivation is low.
I’ve put together a small collection of journaling tools, books, and resources I personally use or genuinely recommend. Nothing overwhelming. Just a few things that support focus, reflection, and follow-through.
You can find them on my Recommended Resources page.
A Final Thought
You don’t need a perfect routine to rebuild.
You don’t need discipline wrapped in pressure.
Sometimes you just need a quiet place to put the truth.
If this book, or this practice becomes that place for you, I’m honored to be part of the journey.
You can find my book The Grit Journal as well as my BRAND NEW book, Mastering S.M.A.R.T. Goals on Amazon. ( shhh…. Mastering SMART Goals is FREE right now as part of the KDP promo)
